Britt, thanks so much for joining us at BlogWorld and also for your constructive criticism. We're listening and already working hard on plans for next year's event--and all of the items on your list will be addressed. We want everyone to have a great experience and get a lot out of it.

And we're doing away with the change-station for swapping from one session to another. It'll be fast and easy next year, you'll be happy.

Have a great holiday season!

@Amy: You use a great word, "meaningful." I kept hoping for more, but so few seminars started genuine conversations.

@Adam: Thanks for highlighting something I forgot. I found the whole pre-registering for seminars frustrating. If I met someone who said, "Hey come to X with me," I'd have to stop and change it before I could get into the room. I agree that the bones are there, I'm hoping they invest the time and energy in working out the kinks.

Great post as it echoed many of my thoughts. I was impressed with the organization of it all. Some no-shows were disappointing. My own experience with communication after registering was troubling. No emails. The forcing of signing up for one session on little information. I like to be able to walk out of a session if it's bad (and amazingly that didn't happen here although maybe I would have left one if it was easier to do so) and go to another but Blogworld apparently didn't like that concept. They tried hard to make it impossible to move around easily. The bones are there but the personality/soul needs to shine more.

I totally agree. I attended BlogWorld hoping and expecting to participate in many conversations about the changing environment online, community building and shifts in tools that enable community online. I felt that many breakout sessions were, as you said, either too basic or unfocused. I am still glad I attended, but had really hoped for much more meaningful conversation.
